Low Compression 70hp

1988 EVINRUDE E70TLCCA,have low compression on middle cylinder. have 120 -50-120.has been rebuilt before and i belive it was bored out ,not knowing much bout motor,but i do understand what boring out is. dont know how bad it is scared up . how much would it cost to fix? or is there somthing i can try to get the pressure back. thank you all. rbass57

they can only be bored so much need rebuild prices range

Yes. There is something you can try. Actually there are two things you can try.

1. Decarb just might clear out some carbon gumming up the rings in #2.

2. Head gasket may be blown. This is not uncommon in "rebuilt" engines in which the follow-up torqueing of the head was neglected or torque sequence was not adhered to.
