Tell Tale?

My tale tale is not spraying water. Even at full throttle it will barely dribble. there is good water flow out the exhaust ports and motor is running smooth and normal temp. The impeller is new also.

Also checked the Plastic fitting and tell tale hose of the back of the engine and it is not blocked

Poke some wire up through the tell-tale. You may just have some debris or an insect nesting in there. WTO with only a dribble scares me however. Can you leave you hand on the motor/heads for a three count?

If your 1978 85HP is the same as my 1978 70HP then the tell tale comes from exhaust cover and not the engine block... In my water flow chart from the OEM manual it actually shows the exhaust cover is fed first then the engine block, cylinder head, t-stat and then out the engine...

Anyways on mine the tell tale was blocked w/ debris, weed eater string worked great for me in cleaning out the junk...
