Re: 32' Donzi F33 floor replacment

Have the same year Donzi. I am having problems with it cracking along side both stringes on the bottom. Do you have a picture of the inside of the haul with the stringers exposed That I could see. I think the boat is flexing on the sides of the stringers and cracking the haul and alowing water to come in.I patched it once both sides but it split again. It is on the spray railes on the bottom side of the boat about 24" in from the side maybee more. Last year I modified the back of the boat to get rid of that splash well and it is now flat with a transome cap the same hight as the side's of the boat. Also do you have the max weight loaded I can't read my sign on the boat

Just getting ready to work on the donzi again after being out of comission for awhile and heres the altest, getting ready to pull the gas tank (maybe) and getting ready to take one side of the stringers off so that i can get all the wood out, i will then put that side back on so i can pour the stringers with nidabond. Same with the transom. Should be fun. here are some pics.

About time !!!! :D Glad to see you and this project back up near the top. I am almost positive that you are the first to do a project of this scale with the Nida bond.

Hope you stay back in "commission" ;)

You would be more correctly using "nida-core" for the stringers ?,
its a honeycomb foam , fill with resin and cut to suit.

The use of plywood squares to core the deck and hatches was a builder mistake, they do that to save money, uses up scrap wood.

I recored my deck with resin, chop fiber and cabosil paste, just pourable.
Spread it out and slap a layer of matt with resin on top as it goes off.
Nida core is a better way to go.

here are the pics i promised, got most of the stringers out have about 4 more to do, ordering the nidabond soon when i can get ahold of the company. If you notice some of the stringers are filled with foam, i dont know what its about or why they did it but i am still planning to gut those as well and pour everything.

Re: 32' Donzi F33 floor replacment

hi guys im about two years late on this conversation but im going down the same road, I have a 1989 donzi f33. I toke the cap off and fuel tank and all rigging,electrical,hoses,ect.ect.. I cut off the top layer of fiberglass and took all the little square blocks of wood out and grinded it all down. Im putting foam boards , I cut the top lip on my stringer out and dug it all out with a chain saw(Not That EASY...)I hit the sides with a wire wheel and hit it with a air hose to clean them out of dust. I did not want to cut them out and redo them due to the fact that there is so many stringers and how tall they were i thought it would be hard to rebuild it to the same measherments. So i used SEA CAST... Its very strong and hard and light so i was very happy at first but now im about $3000 dollars into it and im only half way. Its not what i wanted but im not to sure if it was a smart move. Does anyone have and experience with sea cast if yes then please let us here. Im going to put up pixs from day 1 to five months later. Thanks for reading and hope to here from u thanks Ivan

No Title

I want to resurrect this thread and finish what I started. I picked up another Donzi and later in life am more apt to tackle her. Here is the work so far with motors removed, all boxes and hatches out. The main difference is I wont be removing the cap, my stringers are rotted and I will be tackling them most likely as soon as I get the floor and foam out. For such a large boat I opted for marine plywood which I was able to find a steady source for 110 bucks a sheet. I will update as i go along.

Start a new topic about the new Donzi rather then bury the new boat and its rehab in a topic about the old Donzi you sold...
