Don't laugh you blokes, but I have always wanted to have a go at 2 things.

No 1 is making face masks, (including neck and shoulders), which I believe is called a bust. I want to be able to do this of any person.

Does anyone here know what:
I am talking about, and
any experience in this field, or
have a friend of relative that know's anything about it or
any web site with info (all I get is endless mud pack face type (treatments).
Know of any books or existing businesses.

I reckon it would be really great being able to make an exact copy of a person.....a copy that would last for ever.

Cheers

i know what you are talking about. like monster make up artist, for the movies, they make a rubber mold of the actors face, then cast a bust of the face from the mold. then they use the bust, to make the monster face, so it will fit the actor. but you only make the bust.

If I understand correctly, you're wanting to do sculpture and specialize in busts.

You might try:

Art studios specializing in sculpture or pottery. Even if they don't sell or do what you're looking for, chances are they know someone who does.

Try the art department of local colleges.

Our local art museum offers classes in all sorts of mediums. You might also inquire at your local art museum.

I do Special Effects work as a hobby business and I keep up with the industry. http://www.jmbfxstudio.com.au/index.html This is a studio that has the ability to make molds and they are located in your area.

They are actually pretty famous for the work that they did in the Matrix.

I image they can help you find the mold casting material and help you out.
