I'm loving the logo too! It was one of those things that just kinda fell into place... just surfing some fonts and it popped out at us so we ran with it!

I'm looking forward to getting her on the water for the first time! Can't wait!:D

That is a different approach for a boats paint job, a one off original. I 'm liking it, different for sure but in the end it's you're boat and it will be a conversation piece.

I can't wait to see the interior come together.

Here we go paint finally finished!!! Now just the interior and we are ready for the water!!!

Next step... I'm thinking either bamboo or cedar decking for the floor and stepping areas

Alright time for the interior! I am in the process of negotiating a price for the decking material for my boat. It's a product called BamDeck. It is a Bamboo decking that will not rot and comes pre-stained and with a 20 year warranty. The boards have a ridged surface for traction which is actually cheaper than the smooth surface. They compare the strength to that of ipe. So we will see what happens i guess.

But on another note my boat seats came in!! Put them together this weekend while I was in town. I decided on the red and white scheme with the dark stained wood floor. ENJOY!!!

The seats look nice, and comfy:)

Can't wait to see this bamboo deck, hasn't been done yet that I've seen but should last a while(and cheaper than teak LOL).

Re: Restoring 1986 Sea Nymph SS155 (pics)

Hey guys! I'm back been out of town for the past two months but ready to get this lil lady on the water this summer. She is all painted and I'm about to install a floor using cedar decking. The bamboo was just too pricey unfortunately... gotta remember Im just a poor college student.

Onto the new stuff. I just found on craigslist a Mercury 850, 85 hp outboard with power trim and tilt and all the controls for $875. when I emailed them they said it was an late 80s early 90s model. I called and talked to the guy selling it today and he couldn't give me an exact maintenance record but says the motor still runs, starts on the first crank, and is currently still on the boat. He told me today that he would take $700 for it. Now I haven't went and looked at it but I plan to.

Things I'm gonna check when I go see it: I gonna check the prop shaft by spinning the prop and making sure there is no wobble to the hub, remove the bottom screw and make sure the oil is not milky or have water in it. I hope that the owner can take me out for a ride and see her run but if not I'm gonna bring my muffs and run it with them and check to see that she is "peeing" ok.

Are there any other things I need to look for? He isn't sure of the compression or the last time the carbs were rebuilt because its a friends motor. Is this a good deal? Worth looking at? Any info would be great... please anyone help. Thanks guys and gals

Pictures of the motor from craigslist are attached not the best but it may help

That's WAY older than he says it is methinks. Some Mercs had parts support issues. Not sure if that's one or not. I'd rather see you pick up a '79 or newer JohnnyRude or second best would be a '73 or newer JohnnyRude.

That motor is an early to mid seventies (at best) model by the looks, you need to find out what the model number is if you really want to know for sure.

Re: Restoring 1986 Sea Nymph SS155 (pics)

Well the little bit of the carpet that I am putting back in the boat is complete after a minor change. The center consoles have been sanded and primed. I just needed to put the final coats on and will have pics of that soon. Next step is installing the floor. Due to the cost of the bamboo I decided to shy away from it although it seemed like a perfect fit. I am instead goin to install cedar decking as the floor. Should be starting it in the up coming week. I have a couple of questions that hopefully yall can help me out with.

First - For the cedar decking what would be the best stain/water repellent to use. I have been researching but really can't find the best. Has anyone used this before and could help?

Next - I need a new prop. The aluminum I have is a three blade 11.75" diameter with 17 pitch prop. It has been recommended to do the same size in a composite piranha prop or switch to a SS 12.25" diameter 15 pitch Powertech SRG3. My only concern with the SS is how the weight of the prop will affect my motors transmission. I have read that adjusting the idle speed with a SS helps with the "Clunk" that is typically heard. What are your suggestions on the matter?

Please remember help is always appreciated. Enjoy the new round of pics
