i am interested in purchasing a new 115 hp outboard. The motor is going on a 16 ft Checkmate. I want to go fast and have good pulling for skiing. I am not too concerned about noise issues, just power and throttle response. What should i expect to pay?

There are thousands of boat dealers and engine retailers on the internet. Do a google or yahoo search. This is a buyers market -- don't hesitate to low ball the seller.

Re: 2 cycle or 4 stroke

Unfortunately, yesterday's decision by our current administration to allow states to set their own emmission standards could very well wreak havoc with the world of two cycle boat engines.

At this point, I don't think anyone can honestly say that they know what the future will bring us. I just put a hold on a new four stroke motor that I was buying pending the outcome. The seller fully understood and did not charge me anything to hold the motor. It's entirely up to you but I'm going with the wait and see game plan.
