To each his own, I guess, but its not my idea of a nice day on the water!

Doc Magoon (infamous offshore powerboat racer) once described offshore powerboat racing as ; "a cross between, bronco busting, bull riding and motorcycle motocross racing all while taking a salt water shower".

He once had to have his hands removed from the steering wheel by fellow physician. It took over an hour due to the blistering and bleeding.

I have heard of broken bones if people were touching anything that was exposed and not properly padded.

Looks like fun to me . . . the biggest concern with the drivetrain is getting the throttle pulled back when they catch air . . .

And firewalling it again just before "re-entry".

The big boat teams have one guy on board to do nothing but that.

If I had like a terminal illness I think I'd get a cigarette boat and take it out in a tropical storm or something

Looks lie fun until you submarine that sucker.

Our local hospital has a huge ER department just because of the broken bones and compression fractures of the back from wave jumping, unintended or not. Things rather slow now, but run pretty much 24 hours during the summer season.

I always wanted to go for a ride in one of those ciggy boats. Not so sure the back could handle it today.

a friend of mine had one of those things and raced it in lake michigan once. he came down hard on his face and broke his nose, blood every where. i was to sober to go with him. thank god for that. this type of boating does nothing for me.
