i recently purchased a 1989 40 elf with the "auto start " feature instead of a choke. anytime the engine is first started, whether hot or cold, it idles at about 1200 rpm for 15 or 20 seconds, then falls abruptly to idle at about 700 rpm. is it normal for it to take so long to return to idle? it's aggravating, and possibly dangerous, when you need to quickly get into gear and get going. if this is not normal, where do i look for a fix? (diaphram? solenoid?). thanks!

This is quite normal. The world is rushing by too fast anyway.
