Hi there, I have a 1967 Sportfour 60hp. I noticed that in my engine now, I have J4C plugs. I looked in my manual, and it says to use J4J. I assume the last letter has to do with tempurature rating. Could this plug make the motor run weak? What is the differnce between these plugs? Thanks guys, you've helped me over some humps.........Zeph

The Champion J4J has been superseded up to the J4C plug. Basically they are the same plug EXCEPTING that the center electrode is copper (hence the "C") which provides a longer plug life.

The alternative plug is Champion J6C plug which is slightly hotter and may provide somewhat improved performance.

The plugs should be set to a .030 gap.
