shift problem

I have a 1963 lone star biscayne, w/ 1964 johnson 75hp electramatic. the problem I am having is this, when I shift to forward, it will blow the fuse , reverse seems fine. any help would appreciated.

There were a lot of boat/motor combinations, so you should post your question in the Johnson motor section. Some people avoid the electric shift models like the plague. Sounds to me like one of the electro-mechanical parts is grounding out or jammed as it attempts to shift. The problem could be in the shift control box or the motor, so I would check all the moving parts first.
