Ok so Im finally able to let the boat go WOT after a proper engine break-in. Last weekend I made it to 37mph, trimmed out. Its a 1990 Wellcraft Eclipse 197 with a Mercruiser 4.3L Vortec and 4brrl Quadrajet. Whats the deal here...does that seem too slow or am I just a speed junkie? The tach reads about 4200rpm.

Do you know recommended range for WOT? Seems like the 4.3 is something like 45-4800. What's the prop?

Yes thats GPS speed. Not sure on the prop, all I know is it's stainless...I keep trying to remember to check the prop size but seem to always forget once I get to the marina.

big difference. I have 2 omc 16x7 props. with one I'll do 42mph at 4500rpm, the other 40mph at 4200rpm topped out, exact same part number

I think your WOT is low. I have the injected 4.3 Merc and my range is up to 4800. I have mine propped at about 4650.
