1965 Johnson 40hp super seahorse cooling

Hi my motor stoped cooling after my driveshaft was replaced
impeller pump housing are ok water lines are connected mechanic suggests seal kit and grommets for water lines. any ideas??

Did you check to see that the impeller key is installed??

ya the key is installed
he says it may be the o ring and thats why the water wont reach the top it falls back down

if he is talking about the o ring that goes on the driveshaft get a new mechanic. That o ring is to keep water out of the lower crankcase seal. If it pumped before changing the driveshaft I would look to the driveshaft or the key. It is real easy to think a key is in when it is not.

1965 johnson 40hp HELP

My motor isnt cooling the impeller is new the housing is fine they key is grabbing the impeller water is filling into the system but wont get to the exhaust. removed thermostat and can pump water and it falls out the intake what am i missing??
maybe a peice of the old driveshaft stuck blocking it
cooled before driveshaft was replaced but not well.

Please help

No he means the o ring on or near the water pump plate

who did the work, if mechanic, take it back, can't imagine any one changing a drive shaft, not putting a pump kit in. he needs to warrant his work, or find another mech. if he is that good, may be water pipe is not lined up on the pump.
