Hi all

Just joined the forum so hello. I've had a plug around with the search but I've not found the answers I was looking for so I am posting them here.

I am in the process of rebuilding a Merc 40 (I think it is a 402 model but the owner isn't overly sure) I've split the crank case and dropped out the crank. My question is regarding the centre bearing on the crank. From the shop manual it looks like a ordinary needle roller bearing however its seems to have a gallon of play in it (I've not taken the bearing apart yet). It doesn't seem right to me but by my experience is around motorcycle engines so before I order a new one I wanted to make sure it wasn't a quirk of these engines?

On the subject of the manual, it isn't the greatest in the world and doesn't show any decent exploded diagrams of the powerhead, does anyone have any?

Thanks in advance
Rob

Bearing problem sorted, just need to get hold of a decent exploded diagram of the engine?
