I have a 1996 Mercury 2stroke 20hp jet foot. I was wondering if there was anyway to get more hp out of it without causing any damage to the motor. I know the easy way would be to buy a bigger motor but i dont want to add the extra weight to my flat bottom. Any ideas would be great. thanks

Your not gonna get much noticeable power from a 20hp. If you want to go faster, i know its not what you want to hear but buy a bigger boat.

Get a regular lower unit for it. A prop drive is more efficient...

Yep, it will be like you just added 30% to 40% more HP instantly.
Your current setup is the equivilent of a 12 to 14 HP propped motor.

I have to have a jet foot because i run in alot of water thats only 6 inches deep. So theres no way to put a bigger powerhead or change carbs or anything like that?

Nope. If you need more power, get more motor...
