USA Made ?

How can I tell my motor was made in the US or another country?
I could not find anything mentioning country of origin.
Its a 40hp model # 1041412YD serial # 0T299308

It seems my tach is displaying a higher rpm then when I had a force on my boat.
Any info would be great.

Look on the back of your tach and see if you can change the setting to 6P. Depending on the year and size of the Force you removed, the tach may not be compatible with your new motor.

It is the same size 40hp. The force was a 93 model year I think and the Mercury I put on say a manufactured date of Sep 2000.
The tach is set at 6p right now. I just need to know if my model is made here or some other country because I may need to get one of those adapter modules for the tach.

Not an expert, but I would think that a 2000 yr model is made in the good old USA.

Well does anybody know if there is a clue somewhere in the model # or serial # as to where they are made? Or maybe a website that has a search with info on it? I tried the Mercury site with no luck.

Well I guess nobody knows the answer too this question.
So I guess I will use the info in the manuals that say (s/n 0G590000 and above) for my data.
