Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

This is an Ottawa River grass pike that my friend had to pull out of the water because HE forgot the net. I told him that he would be my net for the day. He said (Talking trash as we often do) that I wouldn't be catching anything anyway... so he agreed!

I have no idea exactly how big it was. We were so excited and concerned about making a successful release, we neglected to measure it. I can tell you that it bottomed out our 25lb scale.

5:30am July 14th. 25 minutes to land him on 15lb test with a small top water popper. 20 minutes to revive her to the point where she pulled away from me with good power.

Picture is a still captured from my cel phone... crappy quality... but you get the idea!

Catch of my lifetime. (So far!)

I got this in the Gulf in July '08. Haven't caught anything since

EDIT!!!! sorry, I forgot I was in the freshwater forum. My apologies for the salt fish. I try nearly every weekend to catch a fish in the lake and can't do it as of yet. I have caught a lot of fish but not in freshwater in ten years or so. My fishfinder says I'm on em, but I don't think they exist.

this cat fish was so big I had to use a braided rope and a grapling hook to drag him to the ski.

Thanks for your concern. It WAS a pike. I know what a Musky looks like. **EDIT**
Give my head a shake... The overwhelming consensus is I DON'T KNOW what a musky looks like! . Far too many people agree with you lifeisfun. I now eat my words!!!! LOL
**END EDIT**

Read the post and you will see that I DID CATCH AND RELEASE! Quite successfully.

I will not weigh anything that big without a cradle. I promise!!!!

Hey, not a problem
I can imagine your and your friends excitement when all this happened :)
Lifetime memory for sure !
Good luck - the next ski will be even bigger if we all treat them with respect and care.

Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

I technically didn't catch this fish. We were sitting on a thick weed bed when I saw this beautiful specimen just sitting in some weeds 2-3 feet away from the boat. I (the guy in the picture who can walk on water) had a rattle trap on, the worst possible lure for this presentation. My brother in law had a gulp worm texas rigged. After a minute of trying to get my brother in law to even see the fish (had to give him my polarized glasses) WHAM!!! These fish are very aggressive.

I only wish I had caught this fish. It was mounted in a Timberlodge Restaurant in Duluth, MN where I was refinishing a floor. I just had to take the picture next to my paw. Can you just imagine pulling this thing in on an Ultralight set up?!
