Acsessing Coils

I cant seem to get to the coils on my 58 18hp Fastwin. I removed every visible screw and bolt but the top just wont come off. What am i doing wrong?

Did you pull the flywheel?

are you using a harmonic balancer puller. you need 1/4x20 #8 harden bolts, available auto parts store. regular hardware store bolt will strip off.

It sounds as if you are not using a puller, which you will definately need.

On reinstallation, be sure the taper is clean and dry and re torque the flywheel to spec.

Yeah i am but i just figured it out, one of the bolts snapped off in the hole and i didnt notice it. I feel like an idiot i need to pay more attention.

I assume you are not using grade 8 bolts are you? Chuck the bolts that came with the puller and invest in some new ones. How deep did you thread in the bolts?

the bolt on the puller didnt break, it was another one . and i am going to get the bolts first thing tomorow.
