There are more things than a prop that will cause the rpms to be 1000 low, and I seriously doubt it would be the prop since 1" of pitch only changes the rpm by 100 to 150 rpm. That would requires a lot of change. 7 to 10 of pitch change.

While the drive looks like a 270, it could also be a 250. They look the same, but the 250 had staight gears, not helical.
There should be a tag on the upper gear box of the drive. What is the first few numbers after the PZ?
