I have the gear case disassembled and I noticed the cap can be installed 180 degrees but there's an oil hole (opposite the part number) that connects with the prop shaft. Should the oil hole be up or down, or does it matter since the gear case will be full of oil. Incidentally, the oil hole was on the bottom when I opened it but I know it's been off before.

Wow Ezeke, that must be why you're the rear admiral to have photos like that!

Thanks Ezeke,
It's funny, the oil hole for the other end of the prop shaft is on the top. I was surprised to find sludge built-up in the gear case hub. It must have been stored with the prop facing down and the sludge settled.
It's all back together and refilled waiting for a new impeller.
