I just bought a rouygh running 1991 115 Johnson. I am going to rebuild the carbs and tune this thing up. I will buy a manual but my question is if the specs in the manual are accurate from your experiences or if there is any extra tips anyone has? I have heard from one guy that he bought 3 differnt manuals and each had a different spec and instructions. thanks

Buy an original OEM manual, not the Seloc or Clymers. Check ebay or go to outboardbooks.com for a factory reprint.

I would rebuild the carbs, change the plugs, change the lower unit oil, replace the impeller and inspect the impeller housing for wear. After that go over all the wiring, looking for buldges or nicks in the insulation, and flexing it listening for crunching. Replace as needed, and file all the connections until they shine.
