Ive got a bottom line tournament 1101 fish/depth finder that I mounted nest to my steering wheel, but when I am standing, I cant see it. Can I mount it in front of my windshield so I can see it without worrying about it getting damaged by water? I can seal it all up with RTV or silicone if necessary.

No, because the cord coming out the back of it sticks out pretty far and about verticle is as far as I can go.

I always thought they were. I know mine (not same model as yours) have gotten splashed and rained on w/o any problem. Now if you were to dunk it that might be a different story.

Um..Just to interject a bit, that 1101 is water "resistant" and being rained on won't hurt it. It is not submersible though. Mine had one of the clamps come undone and it took a small bath when i kicked it going for a rod .Screen fogged in the first sunlight and it became unuseable. the old eagle i replaced it with states right on the box submersible..Don't want to test that theory though..
