I bought a 2004 Evinrude 250 at the city auction.
I got it for $1500 basicly a crap shoot.
Well I hook up power to it, got good even compressin, good spark
the fuel pump runs. The motor will not even sputter just spin.
I pulled out a spark plug dry no fuel whats so ever.
Got the diagnostic software and cable ,there are no hard codes
went threw the static test only problem show bad coil on 1 cylinder.
I did not hook up the oil tank just ran out of small gas tank with 50:1 oil.
Just want to see if I can get it running before I mount it on my boat.
Any ideas ?
I'm trying to get a service manual.

Actually it is a good thing you could not get the motor started.

You could have ruined your motor without the oil system hooked up and operational. It uses pressurized oil from the tank that is spayed into the engine internals. Mixing oil with the fuel does not lubricate the motor at all. This is NOT a traditional 2 stroke engine.

Did you hook up 12 volts to the engine purple wire before you tried to start it?

Better get a service manual and understand the systems before playing with it. Things can get very expensive, very quickly if you do not know what you are doing.

The purple wire gets 12v when the key is turned on.
That is the wire on the keyswitch your talking about.
Will hook up the oil tank before playing anymore.
Which manual is the best.
