I recently bought a 1998 2130 Chaparral. Today we were out on the lake crusing at about 35mph when the alarm sounded. I slowed down and the alarm stoped so I excelerated again and the alarm again sounded. I noticed that battery didnt seem to be charging so I slowly headed to the dock thinking the battery was bad. I've since checked the battery and its fine, the wire appear to be fine also. The engine wasnt overheated and we had plenty of fuel. Any ideas what the problem could be? I've checked the owners manual and haven't been able to find anything.

So what do you have???? 350/5.7 just doesn't even begin to narrow it down.

Merc or Volvo?

2bbl carb, 4bbl carb, TBI, or MPI???
Which ignition system do you have???
A serial number would be great.
