I have a 200hp 2-stroke Yamaha that I am planning on doing the winterization on at the end of the season. I was reading the owner's manual and it said to disconnect the oil injection pump linkage, run the engine 10 - 15 minutes and then fog the carburetor. It sounds counter-intuitive to run the engine without the 2-cycle oil.
Another guy that I was talking to says that he winterized his engine by using a portable gas tank with stabilized gas in it and 3 times the oil you would usually use for the amount of gas in the small tank. He runs it like this for 10-15 minutes with the muffs on. Then shuts it off and leaves it like that for the winter....no fogging.
What is the best way.....Does anyone have any input?
