Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Do you have any idea where this guy is storing the boat right now? I'm thinking that if it's broken, he's probably neglecting it... so, don't think about any deals that would involve you taking the boat back because it won't be in the same condition as it was when you sold it.

Actually she's in a slip year round. Fall is the time to sail around here. Smallcraft advisories yesterday.

But, yes, really enjoying the sailing. Thanks!

Re: sold a boat and it busted!-updated-round two!

Firstly.....Theres absolutely no way your'e responsible, unless you have xray vision and a diagnostic metallurgy lab at your disposal, theres no way you could have known the rod was gonna let go. Secondly, for all you know he could've red-lined the engine for the entire time he was out running around.

Tell him to "sue " you....... he dosent have a leg to stand on.

Good luck

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Kept me busy for 20 minutes reading it.
Its funny same thing almost happened to me over summer .I read an ad on e-bay for a boat saw pics and gave the guy a 500 deposit from pay pal over the phone. When i went to look at it in person it was a piece of crap. After telling me he would give me my 500 dollars back,he said forget it im keeping it.Well filed a small claims court in ct 4 months later nothing no judgement yet sometimes courts are a waste of time. And im out 500.00

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Just noticed this got bumped. Time for an update I guess. The hearing on the motion for a new court date is on Jan 11th. All that happens is the judge decides if the appeal has merit, if it does a new date will be scheduled. This may be early-late spring before it takes place.

WoW! Over 29K views!

Wishing all my Iboats friends a great New Boating Year!

What better timing? We can all be excited about de-winterizing our boats and getting resolution on your court case.:)

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

I wonder how much money and your time this guy is going to waist just to find out he is a retard that can't drive a boat with out blowing it up.

I mean realy new or old it only takes common sence to check every thing before you head out in open water and once one you way the biggest thing to watch is the rpms.

This guy must have been the slow one in school and I am sorry that he has waisted as much of your time as he has.

And I am sure you already know the judge will feal the same way to.

Wow. Just read this whole thread. UNBELIEVABLE that a "judge" could rule in favor of the plantiff.
