force 125 way to hot!!

I have a force 125 that runs way to hot. I replaced the impeller and the gaskets on the water pump. It has good water presure comeing out of the pee hole but the water is very hot with steam. the t-stat is not in the motor so i dont think that is the problem. the other thing is that the check valve on the side of the motor next to the heads is broken out. the bottom half of the port is broken out. I used some jb weld but i dont know if it works but i do know that it dosen't leak any water. the next thing i think i need to do is to check the compresion, what should it be?

The motor needs the thermostat. Some areas of the motor run too hot without it, and some run too cold. Spend the $16 on the thermostat and try again.
