Crazy about HP

Ok.. i'm going crazy... I have a 1991 5.0L/V8 Alpha One Merc in my boat and I cannot find the rated horsepower anywhere... even on the Merc-provided spark arrestor it doesn't say it.

Does anyone know what the HP of my motor would be?

Once upon a time, the 5.7 was known as a 260 and the 5.0 was known as a 230. Not sure how true that is anymore.

I Thnk it's 200hp with a 2bbl.Carb.....
And the 230hp with the 4bbl. Carb........

Wow... sorry about that - not sure how I ended up in the OB forum... rookie mistake there...

Thanks for the info guys - so 200 HP it is with the 2bbl... thanks again...

WAVENBYE2 --- Wow - you have my boat!!! You're the first person on this forum I have spoken to that has the same exact boat as mine. What kind of shape are your seats? P/O treated the seats like garbage so the two folding seats have considerable cracking on them. The rest of the cushions are in great shape. I also have small hole in the carpet in front of the engine compartment.
