I have two new batteries I just bought. When connecting them, is it important to connect the negitive cables first, or does it matter?
I also have a battery switch, should I have it in the "off" position when I connect them?

Re: connecting batteries

With a battery switch off, which connects first first means nothing. If the boat isn't metal, it also doesn't matter. The only reason for connecting the Negative last is to prevent shorting Positive to ground if you happen to contact the boat with the tool. 99% of the time, that isn't an issue. But it's good practice in a car where everything near the battery is metal.

Re: connecting batteries

I keep my battery disconnected when not in use in my boat. However I only take off the positive. Is this a good project?
