Elgin motor question

looking for year of manufacture for Elgin 12hp. Model#59551-1724, serial#57159551. Thanks in advance.

I can tell you it was built by West Bend (571 prefix)but I don't find that number associated with a 12 hp.Last reference to West Bend Sears was 65.
with most being built 59 and before.By about 65 Chrysler took over West Bend and I believe McCulloch was building motors for Sears through the early 60s.Prefix 574.

Once owned a 3 hp air cooled Elgin ... alway thought they had been built by Scott Atwater .??

Also owned a 9 hp McCulloch at one time and never figured out from which OB builder that one came from.

Obviously the Elgin was eventualy linked to Chrysler ... but what about the McCulloch ?
