Have pulled flywheel to replace stator on my 1985 merc 50hp and found the
wiring is color coded differently on the new stator. The old "red" stator has
4 wires--2 yellow and one green with white stripe and one white with green
stripe. On the old stator the two green wires go into a black rectangular
box under the main wiring connector and come out with one blue wire and one blue with white stripe wire which go to the switch box.
On the new stator it has 6 wires---2 yellow, 1 blue, 1 red, 1 red with white stripe, and one blue with white stripe. The two red and blue wires with
the white stripe are marked for 3 cyl motors.
How do I hook up the different colors? Do I do away with the black rectangular box..?
Thanks in advance
