from KLBJ, Austin:

Derek Jackson, a Bailey Middle School student, was slapped with an in-school suspension because of his "buzz cut."

An assistant principal pulled Derek Jackson aside, after she saw his extremely short haircut. Both Derek and his mother say school told them the haircut violates the school's dress code. A copy of that dress code talks about disruptive hair color and shapes, like a mohawk, that violate the policy, but it makes no mention of hair length.

Sorta makes the neo-nazi theory fall away, doesn't it.

I dunno, nice button down collar shirt, he probably looks neater than most of his classmates.

I will reserve judgement until I hear/read the entire story. My guess, there may be a bit more to it.

This is ludacrous! I had the same haircut -- only it was GUBMENT ISSUE!
It kinda grew on me, so now I sport a grey version of the young man's hair style.
Kick me outta werk ... PLEASE!
But then, I'm a "skinhead" neo-con.
I can get away with it. :)

Does it not strike you as peculiar that they are photographing his haircut before the suspension ever took place? Maybe as as though there is another motive? I wonder if they have taken pics of every haircut he has been given.

Is this a private or public school? There is a huge diff between the two and the rules that get set. What were the circumstances leading to the haircut, because I would be hard pressed to believe the student showed up with this haircut and was kicked out with no prior circumstances leading to this.

I have done a few searches regarding this with ZERO results. For now, it's just heresay.

I think Haut is on to something here. That looks very, VERY conservative. And that will not be tolerated in todays "enlightened" educational system.
