Anyone have a site with a pictorial process of removing the starter? Are there any big obstacles? 7.4L Merc inboard.

The advice I'd give you get a Mercruiser maintenance manual for your power package. More than enough pictures and the proper sequence of disassembly. You'll save enough money to pay for the manuals.

I have the whole manual. All it shows for starter removal is a picture of a starter and the words " Remove 2 Bolts" "Repeat reverse to install". Great manual.

That's all that holds it in there.

Sounds pretty accurate to me. Might want to turn off/disconnect the batteries and then take off the cables and wires to the starter solenoid.

But you will find muscles and words that you never knew you had.

What is the number of the Mercruiser manual you're using?

I`m assuming these are inboard bob tails, point to remember is a standard rotation motor uses a "reverse rotation " starter and a reverse rotation motor uses a"standard rotation "starter

I sure wouldn't assume that......... Almost every newbe calls an IO an inboard.
