break-in oil usage

The first 4.5 hours of breaking-in a new Jasper long block used no oil. Today, 2 kours used .5 quart. The St Johns River today was heavy chop, with white caps; think the heavier load had something to do with it? I have broke-in, rebuilt a lot of auto engines, but never encountered this.

Personally, I would have used oil for those first 4.5 hours............ Man, that has to be hard on the engine to run dry like that

lol, Don, I meant it didn't burn any oil; no smoke except white steam, engine running at 170 degrees.

I wouldn't start Worrying just Yet........

Keep an eye on it,+ give it a few more Hours.........

Hopefully she'll give up her Drinking Habit long before the 20 or 30hr. break-in you're doing.......
