Where is good place to look for a prop, 80's and up models seem to be everywhere. My #'s are VWB52119 / 97X 20304. Engine runs like a top, I can start it up spinning the fly wheel by hand. I have the motor on 13' Waterbug (simular to Gheenoe) , I would like to find a 8X9, but the 8X8.25 will work. It is a 10 tooth spline.

Welcome to iboats. :)

It's Chrysler-built. So that would be your base source. I'll bet you can find props for those right here on iboats. Check the Marine Store for 1979 15Hp Chrysler props.

Didn't have any luck here, maybe I need to call the number and see what they say. I shopped for one about a month ago and all I got was " they no longer make that prop", but I know somebody somewhere has box with my name on it.

I could also use one ... the original factory prop is a tiny plastic thing with too much pitch ... anyone have any suggestions?

What makes you think it has too much pitch?
what is the pitch?

Well it's an 8x8 1/4", seems like that's not a lot of pitch, but if there are two of us plus a dog in the boat (14' MW Sea King) the prop seems to be cavitating when I give it gas (it over-revs). When we do get going, under full throttle, we aren't exactly skimming along either. With just one in the boat, it planes and moves along smartly. I am thinking I need a prop with a bigger dia and a little less pitch for when we are loaded down (duck hunting usually). We need to get some speed though because we run the river and as it is, we are at a fast walking speed relative to the bank when going upstream.

Nicksmarine has the OEM 8x8.25" 3 blade prop in stock NIB, for anyone looking for such a thing. I already have one and it doesn't work well for my application.

The 15 hp lightly loaded on a light boat should be running about 22-25 mph.
2 guys and a dog carefully loaded about 18-20 mph.If the boat is "small"
like for cartopping or putting in a big pickup it might not get up well.
If your boat doesn't run lighly loaded at speeds that make you feel a little unconfortable something is up.Maybe the prop but I think motor related.
2 and 3 blade props are available a 3 blade is usually
more versitile.8 1/4" pitch is right about the middle.
Before selecting a prop you should get a tiny tach and get your present rpm and speed lightly loaded.Selecting without a base line is a gamble. If your wrong the least you will get is poor performance and economy worse you could get, premature engine failure.
