Battery Question

My out board engine has a charging system and it works well.My question is the boat has a deep cycle battery in it now (about 15 years old) and im thinking of replacing it.What would be the best choice of battery, a starting battery (automotive battery) or another deep cycle battery.I do run a vh radio and a fishfinder and the trolling motor will be gas powerd.
Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Battery Question

If you have a deep cycle in your boat that has lasted 15 years and you want to replace it, get one that is exactly the same as the one you are replacing. If it has lasted that long you can bet the system you have onboard is as perfect as you can expect. Get the same size type and amphr. and use it for another 15 years!

Re: Battery Question

Point well taken. Didnt think of it that way.The battery has always been well cared for and still works. Its old and starting to crank slow.Just dont want it to die at the wrong time.
thanks

Re: Battery Question

that's totally unheard of for one to last that long.
