Lever on left side of old Sea King 7hp?

Does anyone know what the lever on the left side of the motor, next to the cover latch, is for? It rocks back and forth, not very far. I haven't had the motor running long enough to find out what it's for.


1970-something 7hp Wards Sea King.

You mean a lever other than the shift lever?

Sorry about that, My brain's Idle today! I have a 20 HP Wards and that's where the shift lever is.

The lever is a shift lever,forward and neutral only.
