What are the best dry boxes? I wanted to add a couple cubic feet of dry storage to a smaller lund for binoculars, camera, and other equipment. It seems like there are a lot of companies like Pelican and MTM that make plastic "water resistant" boxes with rubber gaskets in the 20-30$ range. Then there are the scuba boxes which seem to start around $200. What does everyone use, and does anyone know of something in between the two (i.e. something that doesnt look like a lunchbox but doesn't charge me for kevlar reinforcement?)

Welcome to iboats.

I know several people that use coolers.
One with a latching lid.
Many have a ridge on the lid to prevent leaks, or you could add a thin seal to the lid.
Lots of sizes and shapes to choose from.
And most will float if they happen to fall overboard.

But I guess a cooler is a lunch box.
But don't they all look like one?

that said, don't leave stuff store in them in the boat, hot and cold, causes condensation.. i keep life jackets in a cooler. and remove the cooler to store.
