1999 yamaha ox66 200

well i bought a reman powerhead tranfered everything over and now when tring to start up backfires through the exhaust have done a compression check,have clean fuel checked the key on top of flywheel spins good just keeps backfiring after a few spins also noticed foul out spark plugs gas fouling what do i look for next

Did you buy the powerhead from Yamaha? Are you sure the timing isn't 180 degrees out of time? Just looking at the marks on flywheel it can be in time or 180 out....

well i bought it from stalkner marine in fl it does seem to be out of time but there is only one keyway on flywheel how do i go about fixing this i do appreciate all the info

Bring #1 up to TDC and check the marks on the flywheel. Chalk the mark and check the firing with a timing light while you are cranking it over. I'm wondering about the CPS or the TPS.

You didn't say what happen to the old powerhead. If you have a problem with the electronics, you could do the same to this one if you don't find out what caused the problem.

hey well last motor ran good had a bearing noise and viberated so i replaced the powerhead i have check the cps seem to ck out good i never unbolted the tps at all from the throttle plate i ck tonight if it was on tdc ck out good any other suggestion
