Low profile V4 85hp what year

working on a motor thats a v4 lowprofile 85hp trying to find the its got about 6 coats of paint on it and no ser no that i can find no spark trying to find year to look at a manual any help will be a appreciated thanks

Look on the port transom bracket for a metal tag. If it's been painted, gently scrap the paint off and post the model number here.

Or, find the large welch plug on the block. Scrap the paint off and the model number should be there also.

There were no 85's between 81' and 90' so gives us something to go by. If it's oldish looking, it probably is an 80' or before.

Does the spark plug wires come from underneath the flywheel or are there ignition coils mounted to the sides of the cylinders?

I should have used my brain to start with 1971 is what i come up with thanks guys these forums are great when you are mentaly challenge as i im thanks again

Whats the matter with it??i just happen to have one sitting in the shed.it aint no low profile its got a head on it like 200d
