Hello guys.
I found a 2006 90 HP ETEC new in crate 2006 installed with gauges and prop tested for $6,500. Do you think this is a good deal. It's local here in Michigan. Sales tax $390, makes it $6,890. Minus trade in $600 AND MINUS $360 Rebate it totals $5,930 total out the door???? I already have 2002 OMC Controls installed.

Is it worth it or should I buy the 2006 Mercury 90 HP ELPTO 2-stroke with 30 minutes on it for $5,200 plus $200 shipping and $100 for Remote Control (trading in my OMC control), new tanks. $ 5600 approx. total.
What do you think?
Thanks
Nickd:)

The Eeek is measurably better than the Optibomb.

don't know us pricing but the e-tec has a lot of benefits over other motors
why not get the extended warranty over the rebate?

Yeah, I'll check into that, he didn't mention it over the phone.:/

I think I get the 3 three years. I have to confirm all that stuff.

sounds like a good deal,

make shure you will get the waranty.
i'm not shure if you decide to do the instalation setup yourself if that would void the waranty.
you better check that out.
is the motor programed for Xd 50 or XD 100?
you need to know.

be aware of the injectors they need to be calibrated with software from the factory with numbers specific to the individual injector.
every injector is different. your ecm,emm or ecu whatever they call it, knows how to fire the injector according to the software for that injector.

the price sounds good and i would not have to think for even 5 seconds between a optimax or a E-tec.

yeah, I agree on all counts. The Marina will be setting it up on my boat and prop testing with me in the lake. The motor is brand new left over over from 06 still in the crate. He's been in business for over 40 years and have been a JOhnson / Evinrude dealer just as long. He also carry's Mercury but also recommends the Etec over the Merc ELPTO for all the same reasons, hard starting, rough ideling at low RPM's. He did say that the Merc 115 and above Opti's are much better than teh 2-stroke ELPTO but the Etec would be the best for me. I agree.

if your dealer stands behind this motor and you got the warantee,
congratulations $6000.00 is a very nice price for this 90hp E-tec.

go for it.

You'll love it!! I have an 06 115etec and could not be happier! FYI- You may want ot ask what gauge package he's going to install. The base unit has nothing but idiot lights while the next level has fuel flow, water temp and other info available.

Yeah,
He seems like a stand up guy. As far as Gauges go, I'll check them out next weekend. I think I'd like the next step up in guages as well. Why not??? The diff. can't be much in cost I would think.
