1996 30hp tiller-remotes conversion

I have a longshaft 30hp Johnson 1996 model tiller steer. I am looking at a kit to convert it to remote throttle/gearshift. I have found a kit which fits ES series and later outboards. I have tried to work out whether this kit would fit my motor by web searching but have failed
can anyone help? Should I remove the tiller arm, when I install such a kit?

Welcome John from New Zealand!

Don't believe it's neccessary to remove the tiller handle John but you will need to disconnect the tiller handle throttle cable to connect up to the remote cable.

From where did you get the kit John?

Dunno with out seeing it or having some kind of part number to go by. The BRP kit number for your engine from 90' to 96' is 433720. Any mention on eBay of this PN?
