Firestar, Good suggestion, but we were 6 miles west of there last year.
We kind of want to try a new location every year, so people get to try new waters.
As far as rain, well it rained on Saturday afternoon last year, and we all survived. It gave us a chance to mingle and eat the free popcorn.
I'm really looking forward to some fishing time on Petenwell.
I've wanted to get down there and try it for several years.
It should be (has to be) better than last year.
A little info about Petenwell.
As we all know, it is created by a dam on the WI river, and the water level is closely regulated.
Normal summer water level, 923.4' +/- .5
Maximum high water level, 925'
Minimum summer water level 923'
So we can look forward to a full reservoir.
And there is a maximum winter draw down of only 4'.
This tells me that there should be plenty of weedbeds and cover for the fish, as the weeds shouldn't freeze out, even in the shallows.
There should be plenty of panfish action, but I suspect the larger crappies will be starting to suspend over deep water by July.
I would suggest that fishermen and pleasure boaters pick up a Fishing Hot Spots map for the lake. The main river channel, the nav buoys, and stump fields are marked, as well as the water depth. Well worth the few dollars they charge for the map.
Well, I'm glad to see that there are a few more newcomers that are considering attending the event. Remember, you are welcome to socialize, or stay more to yourself, as you choose. No planned or scheduled events.
Just enjoy the water, and say hello to everyone.
No reservations to make this year either, unless you want a motel room.
