In light of a lot recent different opinions on what our government should regulate,
seems that most of the concern is higher cost of health insurance.........
do to health issues ,I believe that technology and medicine are helping people live longer
these older folks are going to doctors and taking advantage of the insurance that they have
paid for most of their lives, and rightfully so......the doctors in turn take advantage of the people with good insurance and this is what we (you) are paying for. Most serious health problems are hereditary, not because you are not a vegetarian. So what do you think the government should regulate ? lets start a list.........then see if you still think intervention is the way to go........

1 ) T. V.= causes bad eyesight

2 ) computers = carpal tunnel

3 ) margarine = one more ingredient and it would be plastic

4 ) chairs with 90 degree backs = spinal problems

5 ) sugar substitute = cancer

that's just a few .........your turn lets make a list

I think they will eventually prove that most serious problems are caused by viruses.

I also think that no matter what we humans do, mother nature will always find ways to kill us faster.

If not, overpopulation will have catastrophic results.

Therefore, we must find a way to regulate mother nature.

Technology. It has allowed the human race to keep alive those that have "bad genes" and there fore pass those genes on to our children.

Bad eye sight.
Weak hearts.
Diabetes.
Flat feet.
Liberal politics. 8)

None of the above would be possible without the present day high tech society we live in.... nature would weed them out.

None of the above.

Natural forces will control evolution.

Medical science is responsible for most:
*Alsheimers
*Cancer
*Heart disease
*Poverty in old age

.. .by keeping us alive long enough to get one or more of the above.

I should have died of:
Smallpox
Diptheria
Yellow fever
Influenza
Poliomelitis
Cholera
Pneumonia
Or third degree burns

. ..long before my first heart attack, or my second, or my third, or even my perforated ulcer.

Of course I am grateful that I didn't. Genes that get you through child bearing will assure their perpetuity, what happens after that is irrelevant.

Exactly my point. In the natural world that age would be 24. In the tech age it is 54... much more room for the "bad" genes to perpetuate.

Well,...........

I Think that the Medical Industry is what Needs Regulating............

From want I've seen to date is Way Too Much Needless Testing,.......
And, Treatment of Terminal Diseases.........

Doctors nowadays order Tests because they're Making Money from them,......
Not because they Need the Results...........

Malpratice + extra profit is also responsible for un-necessary testing.

I'm still waiting for the list.........
from those that think that the government should ban things that are not in the best interest of our well being...

Bondo...
your right on the money.....my father had no insurance
he drove over the road tractor trailers all his life...
started having chest pains went to the doc, doc said probably gas....when it got very bad we carried him to the E. R. they kept him two days and sent him home said he had a heart attack.
he dropped dead a few months later at age 42......
he had a good friend same problem (with insurance)
same doc, sent him for all kinds of test, they found a blockage fixed it and he lived to be somewhere around late 70's
