I WAS GIVEN A MARINER 40E SERIAL NUMBER 6E9 L 413101. WHAT YEAR IS IT?

Dont see a # starting with 6E9 L........Maybe the "L "is some other charecter...

THE "L" STANDS FOR LONG SHAFT, I HAVE BEEN TOP THIS WEB SITE & UNLESS I,M MISSING SOMTHING HERE I DO NOT SEE THIS MODEL NUMBER?

I have an old Mariner 150 6cyl with a serial number of 5940804, and can't seem to find what year it is anywhere. I think is may be an 1982, but I have found no real proof of this.

Someone Help!!

Also my hydrolic ram for tilt is seized...any advice of releasing it?

Hey! Saw your submission. I'm in the same 'boat'. I've got a Mariner/Yamaha 40hp model 40E. Can someone tell me where to find what year, etc it is?
The serial # plate starts with 6E9 (printed as a prefix), then stamped with 'L 412333'. Thanks!

Yours is a 1984 as well.

40C EL Serial#'s 6E9-411860 thru 6E9-416472 = 1984.

Looks ta be '81. There is a build date stamped in tha block. Will be at tha base of no. 2 clyinder, on tha block half where tha two bieces meet, kinda right behind tha advance timing arm. Will be 1/8" numbers. M/D/Y
Should be a release valve on tha pump in tha boat..........
