Can I fix the idle adjust on a 94 20 hp tiller?

The thumb wheel at the end of the tiller apparently is supposed to have some effect on the idle speed, I have a copy of the SELOC manual as well as the CLYMER; they mention it but don't tell one how to fix one that just spins endlessly counterclockwise or clockwise....has anyone ever had one apart? or know how to repair it?..thanks

I rarely see a idle screw that is'nt stripped, or broken, I will check the service manual, and get back.

To repair the idle knob, you have to disassemble the tiller handle. You will need a OEM manual for this, as I doubt if the other's would go into enough detail. This is a step, by step procedure, and that handle can be somewhat of a puzzle if you have never done one.

I just got my manual for the same motor the other day. I'll see if I can scan some copies & send tomorrow eve...if that will help.

My most sincere thanks to MAS...I'm gonna have to get up some nerve to tackle that as it seems pretty complicated :% ... I'll report back on progress...methinks I'll drag the motor into the basement this winter and make it a project to get this task done....thanks again
