i have a few questions as to how this forum works.
i'd like to change the color of my test. how is that done?

i'd like to go back and edit my post's once in a while for misspells or perhaps wording something more consisely. i used to be able to do that on the old forum, is there a way to do it here, now?

i would like to insert a url that is a link. and change the name of the link. like say i want to link to some safety info. i would like the link to apper as "safty info" perhaps instead of the url. how is that done?

perhaps there is some where on the fourm that tells me how to use these features, and i just can't find it....is there such a page?

i got more questions to i recon. just can't think of them right now.........

Text colour:

Click "My User Area" over on the right there near the top. Then click on "Post Wrap". In the Header area write in and in the footer area write in Of course, replace "blue" with whatever colour you want that the forum happens to recognise (experiment). You could also use and to make all your posts in a bold typeface as well. Or for italics.

For editing a post you've made: see that box just over on the left where it says "--Interact--"? Click the arrow next to it and select "Edit Post". Then just make your changes and click the "Edit Post" button at the bottom when you are done. It won't let you change posts you didn't make naturally.

To rename a link from say "www.iboats.com/boats" to "safty info", write it in like this:
Safty Info[/u]

(There is an occasional problem with links made this way due to the annoying Iboats wrapper. I really wish they would turn it off. Test your links after you post them to make sure they work.)

I have no idea where you can check for help. Asking here seems to be the most useful. Otherwise, you might want to try either ESP or channelling a dead BBBoard guru. Throwing salt over your shoulder may help. Whatever you do, do not attempt to use the search function for help, as it is cursed.

Re: regaruding this forum, how do you?

paul pretty much answered what ziggy was looking for,.

as for the wrapper problem mentioned?
what are you talking about?

any questions or problems with this forum should go to forums@iboats.com
(or try your luck with the support forums on www.bbboard.com )

i get these (the emails),. and try and fix or respond to them asap.

as for tossing salt, or summoning the dead,.. you'll tend to get better results with the above email.

and yes,. the search function is cursed.
after going round and round with the developer,. i'm taking a crack at improving it.

About the wrapper problem, I'm not certain where it is exactly but it can cause problems with a few websites that cannot handle being run within a frame. Here's one that's commonly given out for people looking up parts diagrams in the J/E forum:

http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=e
Same link but in url= form

You must run through the foolish login there to access the parts diagram database, but it will fail if you don't first remove the frame wrapper at the top of the screen by clicking on "Remove this frame".

It's only a minor annoyance and I understand the necessity of having links redirected so Google doesn't start building up say a competitor's site which gets linked. Personally, I think this is really the fault of the linked web site since if it could not function within a frame, it should automatically remove it like http://en.wikipedia.org does.

If it helps, this is not a problem if you encode your message in HTML format rather than bbCode. But then again, an HTML encoded link will processed into a hard one, with no frame wrapper.

I don't think we get to say this nearly enough though: we truly, sincerely appreciate your efforts. The improvement in loading times is simply great.
