Just replaced steering cables now I have to remove motor

I just replaced steering cables,now I have to remove merc 150 to get the cables hooked up to the motor. What bolt or bolts do I hook the chain to remove the motor? Any other things I should do, for this is the first time I have ever tryed to removed this big of motor. Thanks in advance.

u need to get a fitting
looks like a circle that u put the hook through
i have picked them up with a chain in the spark plug holes

Curious....I've only lifted mercs and have always used the above lifting eye. But how do you properly lift an OMC as they don't have the threads in the flywheel for such a lifting eye.


BTW: It always seemed to me that the above lifting eye must put a hell of stress on the crank.

You may be able to slide the motor all the way left (port) and install the new cable. It also helps if you retract the steering arm all the way and retract the cable into the splashwell "hole" a bit.
