Do you use dialup or faster internet connection?

unfortunately our new boards system is creating huge file sized pages. The boards front page is almost half a meg in size...yikes!!! If you are on a dial up connection it must take a few minutes to load the page. Obviously this is unacceptable and we are working on solutions.

We are very interested to see if our loyal regular members are mostly on fast internet connections or if some of you are toughing it out on slow dial up.

Ya need a both category. I access using 2 diff. computers. One on DSL (still slower that the old board) and one on dial up (painfully slow). FWIW I checked DSL as that’s the one I tend to use, for obvious reasons.

I use dial up at home, but I do the web with two or three windows open at the same time. I alternate between the windows after I clikc on a link, so I never really see how long it takes for a page to load.

I have cable and have no issue with page loads or anything. Seems to be the same as this site always has been for me. Only once in a blue moon does it slow up a bit here.

Admin have you guys considered putting the manufactures fora all in one forum? I.E, you click a forum title like "Boat Manufactures" exactly like "Dockside Chat" then once that is clicked it would open to a page with all the manufacture fora. That would save a ton of loaing time, since that is taking up the most space on the main page.

I am on a wireless system except when it goes down, then dial up.

Dreadfully slow most of the time. On dial up I can brew a cuppajoe while a page loads. Seems even slower than the old system.

Anything you and your gang can do to speed it up would make JB smile. 8)

I've witnessed dial up but have always been on cable. Dial up is like sitting at a traffic light for 30 minuets.

Cable. Somewhat slow for me. On firefox I cant always load pix and links. I hate EE and firefox is both safer and easier to use.

Very big fat cable with the compliments of the University of Rochester.
The new board is slower than the old one.

I have the slowest DSL Verizon offers.... pages take about 10 seconds to load.

Dial up here, and no other options available.

Local wireless firm can hook me up if I put up an 80 foot tower. I will have to do that because this is starting to hurt our business.

Cable here... some days Iboats go fast, some days slow. On the days slow... it's real slow. Since I don't have this problem anyplace else, got to believe it's on your end.

i got's broadband cable. i guess. i'm no computer guru. but man, if ya can get broadband. i don't think ya will ever go back to dial up unless it's a matter of funds. broadband is where its at.....mighty fast.....oh, and i'm hip to mozilla too.......

Board speed seems to vary.

Dial up here @45.2 Kbps , the thread where everyone was posting pix of thier dogs, I wanted to see, after 6 hrs. it was still loading, so I gave up. I dont open any thread with more than 10 post usually.:'( For me this forum is runnig at 1/4 the speed of the old one.:'(

Dial up for me, and I find that the longest time spent waint to load is the main page, espeically the boat manufactures forums. I don't know if you put a link to that for a seperate page if it would help load any faster, just a thought.
