i just finished the rebuild of this 92 v6 and im going to instal it on a
1974 mako 20'.
the transom is 20"

im just looking how to set this thing up the v6 has a 25" shaft so i probebly neet to raise the motor 5 to 6 inch.
and what size prop do i need.
currently the boat has a v4 115hp 20"shaft with a 13 3/4 X 17 and i turn 5600 rpm
i was thinking to get a jackplate and rase the 25" motor 6 inches.
and start with a 19" pitch.

im just need to start somewhere

thanks

Yep, a manual jackplate will work fine. My fishing buddy has that same 60* motor on his 20 Mako only his is a 20". A 19 works fine but he's just a bit shy of his target rpm but not much. A 17 should be too small so I'd think a 19 is a good choice.

thanks dhadley,

i just needed a starting point and i will go from there.

first i will have to find a good place for my v4 whom never let me down.
find a desent jackplate and 19" prop.
what prop would you recoment?

i will stick with alluminium

I never use aluminum props. Around here they wouldn't last us one trip. I'd assume you'll still stick with a 19 but won't be able to raise the motor as high. Maybe Walleyehed has a suggestion for aluminum, I think he was fooling with some.
