Wiring Boat Guide Lights

I ordered lights to mount to my PVC guide posts more to light up my garage door for backing that for tail lights.

If I run the wires down the post it will put them about 10 inches from the tail light wires. Does this connection have to be completely water proof to prevent shorts?

I hate to drill my frame and run wires back to the hitch but if it is the only way to prevent shorts I will.

Go to the electrical section of a home improvement store and buy waterproof splice kits. Make the connections by the other lights. No need to run all the way back to the hitch.

Make sure you ground them good also.
